I recently took a trip down to Greenville, SC to shoot an engagement session for Samantha and Jimmy, whose wedding I will be documenting in October. I had spoken with them once or twice back in November last year, so it was really nice to hang out, have a couple of drinks and take some pictures together. They really are a fun couple with a lot of great chemistry, which really comes through in the pictures. It’s a bit of a cliché to say, but I definitely came away from the shoot having made two new friends, so I’m really looking forward to seeing them again on their big day.
The shoot itself threw up a couple of challenges as Greenville seemed to be the only place I came across on my 4 hour drive that had been hit by rain. A number of thunderstorms were rolling through, so we had to make the most of a dry spell while it lasted. Skies were overcast which meant we didn’t have to deal with harsh light, but it also meant that some of our options were limited with regards to getting creative. All in all though, Sam and Jimmy were great fun and really easy going, so we got a good number of nice pictures.
Regarding Greenville itself, it was my first time ever in South Carolina and I was really captured by the buzz on Main St. that day. It was great to see restaurants and bars with tables and chairs out on the pavements. There was an almost European vibe to the place, which was very cool indeed to see. I will definitely be going back to visit!
Anyway, here are some of my personal picks from the day. Thanks again to Sam & Jimmy for being such good sports!
