There are a good number of reasons I love my job as a wedding photographer, and one of those is getting to spend quality time with people like Alexandra & Marcus, their friends and family, on one of the most important days of their lives. When I first met with them a year or so ago, I was immediately struck by their warmth, sense of humour, and how evidently in love they were. Those feelings were all reinforced when I shot Alex’s bridal session last autumn and got to meet her mum and Matron of Honour, Lace, who were really great fun, and I was really looking forward to shooting their big day.
And so it was that a couple of Saturdays ago, I headed over for the big day. The Umstead is a really great venue for an outdoor wedding and so I was pleased that it was a lovely sunny spring day. The ceremony was timed to perfection with the sun setting over the courtyard providing a gorgeous orange glow to the evening light. Alex and Marcus had put together a really great team of professionals to work on their day – The Umstead events staff themselves, A Southern Soirée, All Around Raleigh DJ, Embellished Blooms, Simply Cakes, Rev. Barbara Lodge, etc. everyone really came together to put on a beautiful wedding that was a joy to photograph. Selecting just a few photos for the blog proved tough! Here are just a few of my faves:
