Another day and we’re back for another Melrose Knitting Mill wedding for Melanie and Anthony’s nuptials. I’d met with Melanie and Anthony last summer for their rainy engagement session and I was really looking forward to their big day.

In my last post featuring Johnique & Derrick’s wedding day, which was also at Melrose, I mentioned the fact I thought it might be a good idea for me to use the fact I was shooting back-to-back days at the same venue to highlight how each couple’s character and personality influences the look and feel of their photos. I don’t necessarily come into the day knowing how that is going to pan out, but I often find that it is in the editing and post-production each wedding’s voice comes to me. For some reason, this wedding spoke to me in more of a monochromatic way. The timelessness and classic feel of black and white images just seemed to better compliment Melanie and Anthony’s style at least when it came to selecting their images for the blog. There were many other color photos in the gallery but these are the ones that stood out to me personally.

The main other difference with Melanie & Anthony’s day was that they had elected to see each other for the first time at the altar, so they had a first touch where they held hands and shared a prayer ahead of the ceremony. We then focused our time immediately after the ceremony and family formals to hit up some of my favourite spots around the Mill for some relaxed portraits of the happy couple.  Before that, everything had run very similarly with Erin hanging out with the guys earlier in the day whilst I photographed the girls getting ready.

Again, everything that is photographed here is totally unstaged except for the portraits. I want Melanie & Anthony to look back on these images and see their wedding day as it really was, not how I designed it for them.
