After having worked with Kayla on her engagement session with Dre and her bridal session, I was really looking forward to her big day and taking care of her Umstead wedding photography for her. She is such a beautiful person inside and out, so it was a true pleasure to be there for her and her lovely family.

In England, we say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, which is great news for Kayla & Dre as it totally poured down right when they were supposed to be having their ceremony outside on the lawn at the Umstead. Their luck was already in, though, as their planner, Sally with Sally Oakley Events, and the Umstead staff did a great job of moving everything inside pretty quickly as we could see the storm was going to hit.

As you’ll see below, the rain blew through just in time for us to go outside and get some portraits of the newlyweds with the vintage Rolls-Royce they had rented for the occasion. From there we were back inside for dinner and a great party that culminated in a private dance for Kayla & Dre.
