Headshot & branding session for dj rang

We’re going to give the blog a bit of a kick up the arse to start the year as we mean to go on. So get ready for something a little different.

Aside from weddings and engagement sessions, etc. I really want to be doing at least one headshot and branding session a week moving forward. So it was great that I recently had the immense honour of welcoming local dancefloor ninja and ace DJ, Rang, to the studio. The basic brief for the shoot was to update Rang’s headshots and provide him with some creative portraits for his social media.

Now, I’ve worked with a lot of DJs down the years and Rang is not only as good as they get, but he’s also got a really engaging personality, a lot of style and a killer sense of humour. So I wanted to make sure this headshot and branding session resulted with us having made some portraits that encapsulated that sense of style and fun, and covered all the bases from the energy of the guy behind the decks to the suave, sophisticated businessman and entrepreneur that he really is.

The shoot itself was a lot of fun and Rang was a great subject. Aside from bringing the goods in terms of following direction and putting himself out there for the shoot, he was super patient with me. Suffice to say that shots like this take quite a bit of trial and error in order to get right.
